In 1974, the first Role Playing Game was released and called “”Dungeons and Dragons”" and created by  Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. This immediately gained popularity and is still being continuously played today. However, it is of utmost importance to read the handbooks prior to playing in order to know the guidelines and rules. Game modules are also available for purchase. This board game uses polyhedral dice which allows flexibility and generation of several options. The different Dungeons and Dragons dice are D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D20 and D100. The last mentioned one has ten sides and when a number from 0-99 is aimed to be generated, a percentile pair is used- the D10 and D100. Aside from the dice, tokens are also used throughout the game. Each player will assume a certain character with different strengths, intelligence level and dexterity. A few of these characters that one can take on are elves, clerics, thieves, dwarves, magicians, humans and haflings. Among the players, one will the Dungeon Master which will serve as the game moderator. Should any player opt to do something, permission from the Dungeon Master should be obtained. The two will then roll the dice and if the player gets the higher number, the action will be permitted. Creative imagination is also encouraged since the game is open-ended and basically anything can happen. Most of the activities involve entering dungeons, solving different mysteries and warding off monsters. The dice allows the twists and turns of the events in the game, adding more excitement and thrill. This is a fun way to bond with family and friends while harnessing the imaginative power of the mind.

Although there has been a sprouting of other RPG board games and even online, Dungeons and Dragons will remain to be the best-selling in the gaming market.
